When young people face financial roadblocks whether it is the cost of a specialized work uniform, a travel ticket to a training placement, or an essential course fee ambition can quickly hit a wall. That is why we are immensely proud to step forward and support The King’s Trust and their incredible Development Awards programme.
A Legacy of Transforming Lives
For nearly fifty years, since being founded by HM The King back in 1976, The King’s Trust has been a beacon of hope across the UK. Having helped nearly 1.3 million young people build resilience, acquire vital skills, and find sustainable employment, their track record speaks for itself.
Through targeted micro-grants, the Development Awards directly target the practical obstacles that turn potential opportunities into dead ends. Over the past year alone, more than 3,300 young adults aged 16 to 30 have received a helping hand, with the vast majority going to those facing the most severe economic barriers.
The Power of a Micro-Grant
As Dr Koolesh Shah notes, a young person’s future should never be dictated by whether they can afford the basic entry costs of entering the workforce:
“No individual’s ambition should be limited by an inability to afford a uniform, course fee, or travel ticket. By removing these practical barriers, the Development Awards offer a vital springboard toward independence, confidence, and fulfilling careers.”
