Charity Connect is a part of the Koolesh Shah Family foundation, a community of genuine, vetted charitable initiatives and founders, who are carrying out incredible grassroots efforts to alleviate hunger and hardship within disadvantaged communities in Nairobi, Kenya.
Our current programs in Kenya include:
1. Our Education For All program which matches donors to vetted students in need and sponsors their education. We sponsor over 56 students currently.
2. A tailoring school for mothers of children with Cerebral Palsy in Dandora in partnership with CEPAS, providing a safe secure place for the children to receive therapy and care while their mothers are professionally trained on the same premises. The proceeds from items made by the tailoring school go towards sustaining it to work towards sustainability for the project.
3. A children’s library and educational centre in Mugure in partnership with YAUDI which provides a safe space for children to learn reading and computer skills within the slum. The endeavour is free for all the children, and is sustained using the proceeds of a small local business we set up which provides internet to the local area.
4. The Ngong Dumpsite Kid Club and Library providing a safe secure space for educational workshops for children whose parents work and live on the dumpsite. As you can imagine, the dumpsite is an incredibly dangerous place for children, and this space provides a focal point for education, comradary and security for the children within the community.
5. A transitional house for children rescued from the streets in partnership with I Afrika in Dagoretti. The house serves as a rehabilitation centre helping to reunite the homeless with their families, and giving them a fresh start in life.
6. The Kiboro Primary School computer lab where computers were donated for the students to utilise in their studies.
7. A tailoring school for those with epilepsy in Mathare in partnership with Transformers Mathare (in progress).
